Unit 2- Reflection of This Units Assignments

For Unity 2, we were made to look inward when we were told to write an educational philosophy. We were asked who we wanted to teach and why we wanted to teach in the first place. I personally loved this assignment because I love talking about why I want to become a teacher. My story is different than others, I didn't always want to be a teacher, it came later, and when it did, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

In 2012, I started at Texas A&M University- Commerce as a photography major. For two years I was working towards a degree in Studio Arts with an emphasis in photography, and as much as I love photography, I began to lose my passion for it. One summer, I got an offer to be an art teacher at SAMs Place, an orphanage in Kenya for deaf children. Although I didn't go that summer, I began to think of what it would be like to be an art teacher, and the more I thought about it, the more excited I got. I had found where I belonged, it was in the classroom.

This weeks discussion had us look into "Why plagiarism is not in a students best interest..." I personally believe plagiarism is not a viable option because the student does not learn anything. Every semester my teachers tell me "Any grade you earn on your own, no matter how bad, is better than the consequences that come with plagiarism." which I believe is true. When you complete your own assignment, even if you fail the assignment, you will learn what to do to improve your grade the next time. If you plagiarize, you fail the assignment regardless and face suspension or even expulsion.
